Life Chain

by Travis L Quertermous

From The Reminder, October 10, 2010

The news has been filled this week with the U.S. Supreme Court taking up the case of the family of the deceased soldier suing the radical Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, KS. This is the church that makes a nuisance of themselves picketing at the funerals of dead soldiers, holding up signs that say “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “God hates America” among other more profane slogans. They believe God is punishing America because of its increasing acceptance of homosexuality by killing our soldiers. The late Jerry Falwell, himself a Baptist preacher, once called the so-called pastor of Westboro Baptist Church, Fred Phelps, “a full-time nut.” Not surprisingly, they picketed his funeral too!

Since the infamous Roe vs. Wade case handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973, abortion-on-demand has been the law of the land. In the last 27 years, we have slaughtered over 55 million unborn babies in the abortion mills of this nation. What can we do to bring this horrific and barbaric practice to an end?

One thing we can do is to participate in the annual Life Chain event today at 2:30 p.m. Life Chain is a silent protest held all over the country against the abortion holocaust being perpetrated against the unborn children of our nation. Unlike the hate-mongers of Westboro Baptist Church, this is a silent, respectful protest against abortion. Do not be intimidated by the negative press they are rightly receiving and think folks will lump us in with people like them. All you will be asked to do is hold a sign (with no offensive language) for one hour which speaks against abortion. If you can’t stand that long, bring a chair with you.

But please come out and help us! The more people we have participating, the more effective the Life Chain will be, and the “louder” our silent message will be heard! Above all, pray that God will soon bring the abortion plague to an end in America.
