The Choice is Ours

by Dale Grissom

From The Reminder, April 24, 2011

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).  When God created man He made him a spiritual being, so that man would be in His image.  God has shown love for man ever since the creation when He placed man in the beautiful Garden of Eden to dress it and care for it.  God’s love has been shown in many ways, but the greatest act of love that God expressed toward man is that of giving His son to die on the cross so that man, through obedience to the gospel of Christ, can have forgiveness of sins.

Belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ is the very foundation of the plan of salvation.  A strong faith will lead us to repentance, confession, and baptism for the remission of sins.  Faith is the anchor for our souls.  It gives us hope of a better life that will last forever.

There is no reason for anyone to be lost.  God has given us the gospel. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation…” (Romans 1:16).   If we will obey from the heart the gospel plan of salvation and live faithfully unto death (Revelation 2:10), we can enjoy heaven for eternity.  The final choice is ours.  Do we choose to obey God?
