The World's Most Dangerous Predator

The news recently reported a story about a man who was attacked by a great white shark in Australia. The shark bit off one of his legs and mangled the other one. What is interesting about this story is that the man was warned repeatedly that there was a large shark in the water. The beaches were closed and warning signs were posted telling people to stay out of the ocean. Even the lifeguards warned the man not to go for a swim, but he ignored every warning and nearly paid for his folly with his life.
In 1 Peter 5:8, God gives us this warning about another dangerous predator: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Now friends, are you heeding this warning? If you’re not a faithful Christian, then you’re no different from the man in Australia who went swimming with the shark. Only it’s not just your physical life that’s at stake, it’s your immortal soul. Friends, Satan is on the prowl for your soul. Eventually, he’s going to devour you. The only savior is Jesus, the only remedy is the gospel, and the only place of safety is the church of Christ. Let us all heed God’s warning about the world’s most dangerous predator and live accordingly.
