The Way, The Truth, and The Life

In John 14:6, Jesus Christ made a startling claim about Himself. The Bible says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The apostles also preached this message of salvation only through Christ. In Acts 4:12, Peter said, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Thus, the early church was continually converting Jews and Gentiles alike from their religious traditions to the truth of the gospel.
In our politically correct, postmodern world, such an exclusive message of salvation seems to many to be narrow-minded and even arrogant. Just as in Bible times, many are offended by the gospel. But the miracles of Christ, especially His resurrection, prove that Jesus was indeed the Son of God. Jesus, and Jesus alone, lived a sinless life, offered it to God on the cross as an atonement for our sins, and rose the third day to offer us eternal life. What other religious leader has done this for us? This is why Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father in heaven is through Him. This is why salvation cannot be found in any other name than Jesus’ name. Furthermore, far from being exclusive, the gospel invitation is open to anyone who truly obeys His will. Have you obeyed the gospel today?
