Daily Bible Study

by Travis L Quertermous

From The Reminder, January 15, 2012

One good New Year’s resolution is daily Bible study. In fact, God expects us to be good students of His word. The apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Acts 17:11 commends the Jews of Berea because “they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily…”

But sadly, many New Year’s resolutions are broken as quickly as they are made! This is because too many such goals are only vaguely or irrationally defined and lack any good plan to fulfill their goals. So let me make some practical suggestions on how to become a daily Bible reader this year. If one reads 3 chapters per day in the Old Testament and 9 chapters per day in the New Testament, one can read through the former once per year and the latter once per month.

One web-site, www.BiblePlan.org, gives 13 different daily Bible reading plans which will fit anyone’s busy schedule. Or why not contact us for a free, 8-lesson, Bible correspondence course you can take in the privacy of your own home? Let’s all resolve to become better Bible students in 2012!
