Text Box: The Unpardonable Sin
by Travis L. Quertermous

In Mark 3:29, Jesus Christ said, “but he who blasphemes the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation.” It is not uncommon for people to ask me to explain this puzzling verse to them. Some folks are very worried they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and so can never be forgiven and go to heaven!
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is explained in the next verse, Mark 3:30, as follows, “because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit.’” In the context, the Lord had cured a demon-possessed man and His enemies accused Him of casting out demons by the power of Satan instead of the power of God. In this way, they blasphemed the Holy Spirit, a sin so serious that Jesus pronounced it unforgivable. So unless you have ever accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of the devil instead of the Holy Spirit, rest assured that you have not committed the unpardonable sin.
The sad reality is that most people will be lost forever over sins that are forgivable, but have not been forgiven by God because they refuse to repent and obey the gospel of Christ! Why not seek God’s pardon for your sins today?

Text Box: Questions! Questions!

The Bible School class was reviewing the wonderful lesson of Jacob when he used a stone for a pillow and had the dream of the angels ascending and descending on the ladder above him. The young teacher asked if there were any questions.
“If the lovely angels had wings,” asked a six-year-old, “why did they have to climb up and down an old ladder?”
“Ah-hem!” said the teacher, “are there any more questions?”
