Annual Programs &
Activities
World
Bible School - We have a very
active World Bible School. This is a good evangelism tool. Many in the
Dexter congregation teach by mail in this way. The church pays for the
material and postage to carry on this work. Thousands have the
opportunity to learn God's plan of salvation through this effort.
Vacation
Bible School - Every summer a
date is selected for this work. We have teachers from within the
congregation and hold classes every day - nursery through adult.
Material is selected and approved by the elders. We look forward each
year to this period of Bible study.
Bible
Bowl - Our young people prepare for and participate in the area-wide
Bible Bowl each year.
Youth
Rally - Every year around the 1st of March we have a youth rally.
This has been a successful program and is well attended by young people
from several States. This past March we had 602 in attendance.
Gospel
Meetings - Each year we hold one or two gospel meetings. We try to
have one in the Spring and one in the Fall.
MORP
- The MORP is a formal banquet which our young people can attend as
an alternative to the prom and is held on prom night. This is a
wonderfully successful program planned and executed by the parents.
Bootheel
Youth Camp - This summer Bible camp is located outside Bloomfield,
MO and has been a very well attended camp for many years.
Thursday
School - This preschool program meets every Thursday morning during
the regular school year. We have an enrollment of 40 three and four year
olds who attend for the two years before kindergarten. Every year we
have a graduation ceremony which the children love. Many of the children
who attend are from the community. This has been an excellent outreach
program for many years.
Personal
Evangelism - An active work for many years, hundreds of people have
been baptized or restored by this method of teaching. We have a full
time personal evangelism minister who, along with an active membership,
also ministers to the shut-ins, nursing homes, and hospitals. Much good
has been done in our community due to this much-needed effort.
Children's
Home in Paragould, AR - This is a benevolent work that the Dexter
congregation has been involved in for many years.
Building
program - About two years ago we completed a new Fellowship
Building. This building is enjoyed by the entire congregation for
frequent meals and, under the oversight of the elders, the young people
can use it for approved activities.
